Setting
Located at the top of the Flats near Ohio City, Luca’s overlooks the Cuyahoga River and provides breathtaking views of Cleveland and the city’s bridges. The restaurant is stylish and elegant, offering white tablecloths, beautiful wall art, elegant lighting and a year-round enclosed patio.

Food and Drink
A tip of the cap to the folks at Luca’s. The happy hour menu features eight dishes that are $6 each: three pasta dishes—cavatelli alla bolonese, formaggio ravioli and penne alla vodka; calamari; salmon; sautéed mussels; caprese; and crostini. Did we mention you get fresh bread as well? One important note: these are more than just appetizers … they are well-portioned meals.

What’s a good happy hour without drink specials? Luca’s has them, and the selection is quite impressive. Beers are $3, wines are $6, mixed drinks are $7 and specialty cocktails and martinis are $12 – $14. Happy hour beers are Peroni, Amstel Light, Miller Lite and Dortmunder; wines include Corte Alla Flora and Ocanera; mixed drinks include Jim Beam Manhattans and peach bellini cocktails; and specialty drink examples are salted caramel macchiatos and strawberry basil martinis. Who’s thirsty?

Notes
Happy hour at Luca’s is offered Monday – Friday 5 – 7 p.m. and Sunday from 5 – 9 p.m. Reservations are accepted! The restaurant’s website says happy hour is “bar only,” but I’ve been seated at tables multiple times (and once in the patio) and still permitted to order from the happy hour menu. The service at Luca’s is impeccable. Different staff members will bring water, bread and the main course and a manager stops by to ensure your satisfaction.

One caveat—Luca’s can be challenging to find the first time you visit. When you see St. Malachi, you’re essentially there. Just take the side street (Superior Viaduct) all the way to the back, past Stonebridge Towers, and you’ll run right into the restaurant. Free public parking is limited, so chances are you’ll have to valet. At last check, this costs $5.

Rating Scale & Verdict
🍷 🍷=Average 🍷🍷🍷=Good 🍷🍷🍷🍷=Excellent

🍷🍷🍷🍷 Luca’s offers a fine-dining experience without spending a fortune. The food and drinks are tremendous. Throw in the outstanding ambiance and breathtaking scenery and we have ourselves a winner. This is a destination worth visiting. Like me, chances are you’ll be a repeat customer. Cheers!
