Setting
Located in the center of Tremont next to Fahrenheit, The Bourbon Street Barrel Room (BSBR) offers visitors a fun and casual atmosphere. I’ve never been to New Orleans, but I imagine BSBR would fit right in. An open split-level room with bars on both floors, wrought iron railings, a back patio and breathtaking chandeliers bring a Louisiana feel to Northeast Ohio. Piped in jazz and blues music make it that much more authentic.

Food and Drink
Be still my beating heart … BSBR is known for its $4 happy hour. The food menu is relatively limited, but for four bucks, I’m not complaining. I’ve tried everything on it—gumbo, jambalaya, hush puppies (with the delicious sauce that accompanies it) and sweet potato waffle fries—and it’s thumbs up all around.

The happy hour drink selection at BSBR is quite impressive. For the beer connoisseurs, try some authentic Louisiana beer with drafts from Abita. If you’re in the mood for something else, no problem. BSBR offers chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, bourbon and vodka, and mini hurricanes. Did we mention everything on happy hour is just $4.

Notes
Happy hour at BSBR is offered Monday – Friday from 4:30 – 7 p.m. and Saturday from noon – 6 p.m. A nice feature is that it’s offered throughout the entire establishment, not just at the bar. Service has been solid in all my visits. Because BSBR is in Tremont, there isn’t a parking lot—that said, ample street parking is available nearby.

Rating Scale & Verdict
🍷 🍷=Average 🍷🍷🍷=Good 🍷🍷🍷🍷=Excellent

🍷🍷🍷 BSBR brings Mardi Gras to Cleveland. It’s a fun, unique atmosphere and offers something different than typical bar food. Another plus is that happy hour is offered at convenient times and on Saturday. One piece of advice while you’re there—save room for the beignets. Cheers!
