Northeast Ohio: Upcoming Events
Friends, I’m headed to Atlanta for the weekend. That said, I take my duty as the 39th best blogger in Cleveland very seriously. 😉 So, before departing, I wanted to let you know about some exciting happenings coming up in Greater Cleveland.
Spooky Pooch Parade
I’m bummed to miss this, because it sounds like a great event. Tomorrow (10/19) is a day for the dogs in Lakewood. The Spooky Pooch Parade is comprised of a free festival in Kauffman Park, a dog parade and an awards ceremony. The fun starts at 12:30 p.m. with a festival in the park that will have entertainment, games and dog-related vendors (rescue groups and other nonprofits). Kids are invited to wear Halloween costumes. The dog parade begins at 2 p.m. and will feature our four-legged friends in Halloween costumes, wagging their tails up and down Detroit Avenue. The fun concludes with an awards ceremony at 3:15 p.m. Categories include Best Pooch & Child, Best Pooch & Adult, Best Pooch & Group, Spookiest Pooch and Best in Show. Visit Lakewood Alive for additional details and registration information.
Cleveland Beer Week
I think we’ve reached 80 breweries in Northeast Ohio. As Mike Polk hilariously said in his latest Cleveland tourism video, the city has more breweries than residents. It’s only natural, then, that Cleveland has a Beer Week. Established in 2009, Cleveland Beer Week is a nonprofit celebration that raises awareness of the craft beer industry and encourages support of local establishments through a series of events—keg tappings, beer pairings, tasting dinner, brewer meet and greets, and information sessions—at local bars and restaurants. Featured events include Pumpking Prowl at Southern Tier Brewery; Offshore Pour on the Nautica Queen; Beer, Chocolate and Cheese Extravaganza at Heinen’s Downtown; and Night at the Brewseum at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
Cleveland Pizza Week
We’ve reached the holy grail—Cleveland Pizza Week, a seven-day celebration (October 21 – 28) of one of America’s favorite foods. Thirty area restaurants will offer special pizzas for $8. Participants include Ohio City Pizzeria, Dewey’s Pizza, Saucy Brew Works, Angie’s Pizzeria, Ballantine and Beerhead Bar & Eatery. Pizza Passports will be available to customers—if you earn four or more stamps on your passport, you’ll be eligible to win $250 worth of gift cards.
Fall is a great time for events in Cleveland. Dogs, beer and pizza—does it get any better than that? I’m off to Atlanta. Have fun this weekend, friends. Don’t miss me too much! 😂
