Weekend Events in Cleveland: Things to do in the 216

I’m aware there’s no snow in the picture.
A guy can dream, right?

Greetings, friends and happy Wednesday. There seems to be a lot going on in Greater Cleveland this weekend. I scoured Eventbrite and picked some events that sound interesting. Don’t worry, not all of them are Valentine’s Day related.

Eat, Drink & Be Mine | Lindey’s Lake House Flats | Cleveland
Friday, February 14
9 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Okay, so this one has a Valentine’s Day theme, but it’s for everyone—couples, groups of friends and individuals. Enjoy a special party at the newest addition to the Flats. Tickets are $75 and include an open bar, DJ, dancing and a chef-inspired aphrodisiac menu.

For tickets and additional information, visit the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Beer and Brewing 101 | The Cleveland Brew Shop | Cleveland
Saturday, February 15

Education and fun aren’t mutually exclusive. For $20, guests will learn some history of beer, sample libations and witness a live brewing demonstration. Afterward, receive 10 percent off any purchases in the shop.

Monster Jam | Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse | Cleveland
Saturday, February 15
1 p.m. & 7 p.m.
Sunday, February 16
1 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.
There’ll be live four-wheel action downtown all weekend long. Billed as family-friendly fun, Monster Jam® Triple Threat Series™ features monster trucks, ATVs and Speedsters engaged in fast-paced competition that takes machines to daring heights. Enjoy racing, freestyle, donuts, flips and more. My brother took his four-year-old son (my nephew) last year. The two words he used to describe the event—loud and fun.  Tickets start at $15.

For tickets and additional information, visit the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse website.

Masters of Bourbon Appreciation “MBA” | Western Reserve Distillers, LLC | Lakewood
Saturday, February 15
1 – 3 p.m.
I’m not going to lie, this one caught my eye. I’ve always wanted to be the type of guy who could sip bourbon and look cool. Unfortunately, whiskey doesn’t sit well with me. With that in mind, if anyone wants to go out for some amaretto sours, I’m down. Back to the event. This $45 class will explore grains in the bourbon-making process, double-barrel aging and basic production. Students will also discuss and evaluate flights of bourbon.

Ding, ding, ding—we have a winner … for me at least. Sample sweets and treats from 20 of Cleveland’s finest establishments. Guests will be given a special treat box and asked to vote on their favorite desserts. Not bad for $15!

Food, drinks and monster trucks … it’s shaping up to be a fun weekend in Cleveland. I’ll see you out and about this weekend. Cheers!
